Safety Policy
Draft — for Australian legal review
This document has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not final. It must be reviewed before TripMate accepts live bookings or payments.
In an emergency, call 000.
Drivers are reviewed
Every driver uploads their licence and a selfie, which a TripMate team member reviews before they can post trips. This is a manual check, not a criminal background check.
Contact details stay private
Phone numbers and emails are only shared after a booking is confirmed and paid. Keep messages and payments on TripMate.
Tips for passengers
- Check the driver's rating and reviews before booking.
- Share your trip details with a friend or family member.
- Meet in a public, well-lit place and confirm the driver's name before getting in.
- Always wear your seatbelt. If you feel unsafe, ask to stop somewhere safe.
Tips for drivers
- Only drive when rested and sober, and follow road rules.
- Check your insurance covers cost-sharing passengers.
- Pick up and drop off only in public places — home or street addresses aren't accepted as meeting points. Confirm the passenger's name.
- You may refuse to start or continue a trip if there's a genuine safety concern.
Reporting
Use "Report" on a trip, booking or message screen to tell us about unsafe or inappropriate behaviour. We review every report and can warn, suspend or deactivate accounts.
